At this point I uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it. I can close the game itself, but the emulator menu is still locking up. So, after MORE time spent messing around trying to make this work, Sonic 3D Blast (the first game by default in the emulator) starts to auto-launch whenever I launch the emulator. However, I still have the problem with the emulator itself now refusing to respond to anything I try doing. I go to verify the local game cache, and now the Options window isn't stuck. It isn't frozen because the preview screen is still playing the intro to whatever game it's stuck on. I keep having to force-close this thing using the Task Manager. Tried to close the emulator with the X in the right corner, nothing. I tried to click the arrow to cycle to the next game, nothing. I quit back to the Main Menu, only to discover that now the emulator as a whole wouldn't respond to anything I did. I was then fiddling with the emulator when I accidentally started Sonic 3D Blast (which gives me headaches every time I play it x_x). Trying to click to the emulator would cause Win8 to give that little jingle that indicates you can't complete whatever task you're trying to do, and the Options window would flash. The "OK", "Cancel", and "Apply" buttons wouldn't respond to my clicks, and I couldn't close it with the red X in the top right corner. However, I was then unable to close the Options Window. I have an adapter that lets me use my 360 controller with supported games, so I click on "Options" and go to change the controls to the gamepad rather than the keyboard. So I purchased the Sonic Hits Collection today and was a little surprised to find that the older games seem to run on an emulator. Warning: Lengthy post explaining the situation inbound! I figure the more information I provide, the more likely I am to hit upon whatever might be causing this so someone else can point out the issue.

exe whenever I want to play one of these games, rather than using Steam as a middle-man. I can launch games, then quit back to the main menu and cycle through the other games, start other ones, pull up the Options and continue playing, and so on. Not only that, I'm having zero issue with the emulator when running it separately from Steam. On a whim I decided to run it, and much to my surprise the emulator launches without a hitch. Long story short, I found myself in the Common folder for the Sega Genesis Collection, and saw an. EDIT: It would appear that something is wrong on Steam's end.
